This Life Is What You Make It
“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soulmate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.”
― Marilyn Monroe
This quote has been a quote I have read weekly since high school when I started to realize who my friends were, and who were not. While I was in high school I learned very quickly about what cliche, and which one I was in. High school taught me a lot about who I am and I have everyone I had a relationship with in high school to thank for that. This quote reminds me of all the friends I used to have who i thought were always there for me, but because of them they allowed me to grow and find who I am as a person. This quote also talks about sisters being your closest friends, I unfortunately do not have any sisters, but the friends I do still have from high school I do consider family with how they were always there for me through every aspect of my high school career. The topic of love was also talked about in this, and fighting for your soul mate, you will never be able to find who you truly love if you do not take risks, even if it breaks your heart during the journey you still need to know to be with the person who makes you feel whole. Broken hearts whether it's with a friend or your significant other are not gonna be the end of your world because it is destined to happen, it helps you become the person you are meant to be. Heart breaks are tough, but it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, if you truly love someone they will never leave you, and never hurt you on purpose. This quote taught me that those you think you love are not always the people you end up with or stay friends with, but to also know everything happens for a reason, and those who break your heart are only helping you get closer to finding that person who will make it whole, and those “friends” you thought you could trust are only helping you realize who you are not. Staying true to yourself will allow you to see how beautiful this world really is, and to always remember to keep your chin up and smile.
