“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back & relax, all you need is a book.” – Dr. Seuss
Help local classrooms in need of more books! We all remember the feeling of getting to read a good book, or having your teacher read you a story. Many classrooms in Carlsbad do not have the resources to invest in new books. From December 1st – 10th we ask that you do your part in helping our community by participating. We are collecting gently used and/or new books, everything from early readers to 6th grade.
Below is a short bio on the teacher that inspired us to make more books accessible to students, not only in their classrooms, but also, in their home:
“I’m Suzie and I teach second grade. My classroom is located at a Title One school in San Diego county where 98% of students have a language other than English as their primary language. All students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. My students love coming to school and look forward to it every day. They feel safe, respected and can count on it to be a consistent part of their worlds. Most of my students do not have books (or not many) at home so my classroom library is the source for all books aside from the one library trip per week they take. My students love to read and have already read most of the books on their level in my library. I am so honored to be receiving book donations and I know they will be read and cherished for many years in the future.”
